About Evangel Heights United Methodist Church

Mission Statement of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church

EHUMC exists to equip, nurture and reach out to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Equip

God calls us to equip the body of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit so that we do the work of God.

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-14)

Nurture

God calls us to nurture one another in Christ so that we build loving relationships.

‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ (Matthew 22:37-39)

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not think your are superior. (Romans 12:9-16)

Reach Out

God calls us to reach out with Christian compassion so that God’s grace may abound.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. (Matthew 25:35-36)

… go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Welcome from Pastor Amanda

Welcome to Evangel Heights United Methodist Church!

I’m so glad you’ve found your way here. Whether you’ve been part of a church for years, you’re looking for a church home, you’re returning after some time away, or you’re simply wondering what this whole faith thing is about, there is a place for you at Evangel Heights.

At the heart of our Christian faith is a simple calling: to love God and to love our neighbors. Jesus reminds us that these two things belong together. As we grow in our love for God, that love is meant to overflow into the way we care for one another and serve the world around us.

As United Methodists, we believe that God’s grace is at work in every one of our lives. We don’t have to earn God’s love, and we don’t have to have all the answers before we come through the doors. We come as we are, trusting that God meets us there and continues to shape us into the people God created us to be. That means there is room here for questions, doubts, joys, struggles, laughter, tears, and everything in between. There is room for people at every stage of faith. And there is room for you.

So, wherever you are on your journey, come and see. Come as you are. Come and be part of the community. There’s a place for you here, and I hope you’ll join us.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Amanda
